Roman Catholic Diocese of Masaka, Uganda
Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. is a Texas, non-profit corporation, with federal tax-exempt status. It was created in 2013 to support the building and operation of Catholic schools in Uganda, primarily the creation and support of St. Mary Laetitia School in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Masaka, Uganda.
The vision and guiding philosophy of Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. is to join with the bishop, clergy, and laity of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Masaka, Uganda to assist in the creation of educational opportunities for the moral and intellectual formation of Ugandan youth within the Catholic tradition and consistent with Catholic teaching. Currently, the main emphasis of Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. is the support of St. Mary Laetitia School.
Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. raised funds for the purchase of the 20-acre campus of St. Mary Laetitia School, and for the construction of the physical plant of the school, which includes two dormitories, classrooms, administrative offices, teacher apartments, sanitary facilities, and kitchen and storage facilities, as well as a water well that produces clean water for the students and staff. With the school infrastructure mostly complete, and the school now open and operating, the focus of Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. is on supporting the continued operation of the school.
Our current corporate directors of Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc. are Robert J. Gieb, Susan Moses, and Cauley Gieb.
The chaplain and official diocesan representative for St. Mary Laetitia, as well as liaison with Uganda Catholic Schools, Inc., is: Rev. Athanasius Kasekende of the Diocese of Masaka.
